Faces of Downtown Scene is a portrait project created by photographer Maria Baranova. It is dedicated to New York’s experimental performance community but, like an extended family, expands internationally through our collaborative nature and the creative process.
Most of the portraits are shot in Gowanus, Brooklyn, New York, with the project starting in 2016 and continuing to the present. All photos are taken with Hasselblad 503 CXi mounting a Carl Zeiss Sonar f4, 150mm lens shooting Kodak 6x6 Portra 400 and Tmax 400 film.
